The Hawaiian Airlines calendar is a longstanding tradition of Hawai'i, with people eagerly anticipating each new release. The theme of this year's calendar was "The People's Choice Awards," recognizing the 12 favorite Hawai'i dishes as voted on by Hawaiian Airlines employees. Prepare to take notes.
Recently several young birds were transported from the Island of Hawai‘i to the Maui Bird Conservation Center. Bred in captivity, these critically endangered birds, called alala, were once abundant in forests throughout the Islands. Through careful stewardship, the hope is that they will once again become a common sight in the skies of Hawai‘i.
Honolulu is probably not the first city you would associate with Gypsy jazz, but Hawai‘i is full of surprises – and one of them is a band called “Hot Club of Hulaville.” Their style may be much more 1930s Paris than typical 2010 Hawaii, yet the Islands have embraced the band wholeheartedly.
