Hawai‘i is a beautiful blend of cultures, traditions and ideas. Geographically and culturally, it’s where East and West meet. And one of the premier showcases for this meeting is the Hawai‘i International Film Festival.
The tumultuous life of Princess Ka‘iulani – Hawaii’s Crown Princess at the time of the monarchy’s overthrow in 1893 – has come to the screen in a major Hollywood film.
The Hawaiian Islands are the most isolated in the world. What could have inspired the early voyagers to attempt the dangerous journey here over thousands of miles of ocean? What would the trip have been like? These questions fired the artistic imaginations of two men, and resulted in the film “Voyagers.”
