Ho‘okena 2

Posted on April 23, 2013 in Hawaii, Culture, Dance, Music

Here are two more songs by our friends Ho‘okena. First is a beautiful song composed by Louis “Moon” Kauakahi in honor of Hawaiians who’ve left Hawaii to make homes on the Mainland but have never forgotten their Island roots, called “Wakinekona.”

The second piece is “Nohea I Mu‘olaulani.” Queen Lili‘uokalani composed this song in 1885 to celebrate her new home in Kapalama, which later became the Lili‘uokalani Children’s Center. Joining Ho‘okena is Nani Dudoit and violinist Kaipo Dudoit.
