Billed as the Ultimate Unlimited Outrigger Canoe Race in Hawai‘i, the Olamau Race is contested over over 90 miles of open ocean, from Maui to O‘ahu, for three grueling days. At the last running, teams were chasing not only the glory of victory, but also the largest prize purse in the history of outrigger canoe racing.
When it comes to outrigger paddling, one race towers above all others: the Moloka‘i Hoe. This ultimate test of strength and stamina starts on the Island of Moloka‘i and is contested over many miles of open ocean before ending at Waikiki Beach on O‘ahu.
