The Olukai Ho‘olaule‘a combines the joy of getting out on the ocean with the pleasures of music, games and the Islands’ fabled aloha spirit.
The competitive elements of the event are split into two days, with the first day’s race dedicated to the fast-growing sport of stand-up paddling and the second day’s race drawing some of the world’s top one-man canoe paddlers.
With serious athletes, residents and visitors all enjoying the ocean, the weather and the entertainment, it’s a wonderful example of how even organized, big-time races in Hawai‘i can include a huge helping of fun.
