Young, dynamic and preternaturally skilled, Jake Shimabukuro has singlehandedly created a boom in a traditional instrument of the Islands: the ukulele. But Jake is more than a performer. He is also keenly interested in the power of music as a positive influence on our lives.
Jake is a spokesman for the organization “Music is Good Medicine,” which organizes school visits, workshops, community outreach programs, visits to senior care centers, hospitals and more. Its message is one of inspiration, that music can be a force for positive change and good health for individuals and communities alike.
Can the little ukulele really make such a huge difference? It did for Jake Shimabukuro, and he wants to show what music can do for you, too.
